Rear Window

Rear Window was written by Alfred Hitchcock in 1954.

  • Jeff is a professional photographer. He was forced to stay in his apartment after an accident in which he had broken his leg. Jeff was bored and spent his time by observing his neighbors. He became obsessed with his neighbors' life. Then, he suspected one of them of their wife's murder. Lisa (Grace Kelly), his good friend, and Stella, his nurse, helped Jeff solve the problem. During the night, a storm woke Jeff and he discovered the strange behavior of Mr. Thorwald, his neighbor. Jeff believed that Mr. Thorwald killed his wife. Lisa decided to go to Mr. Thorwald's appartment for proof. Lisa discovers Mrs. Thorwald's wedding ring. Lisa concludes that Mrs. Thorwald wouldn't have taken off the ring if she went on vacation, which could only mean one thing!. Unfortunately, Mr. Thorwald returned to his apartment at the same time. He understood that he was being watched by Jeff and then threw Jeff out the window, breaking his other leg.

This movie is a little strange but there is a lot of suspense. So I found this movie is well to look at. I loved the actors and especially Grace kelly.
But I didn't like the fact that the main actor: Jeff, didn't leave his apartment. I find that missed a little actions.

Jack, Have you ever seen this movie ??

Laura...I corrected most of it and will do the rest soon, but I am unclear what you mean in one sentence. What do you mean by, "She discovered the alliance of Mrs Thorwald; however if she was on vacation, she wouldn't have removed her alliance." Try writing it in English another way and if that doesn't work, write it in French so I can translate it....Thanks

The blank is for the missing sentence. Once I correct it for you, I'll give you my overall comment. Ok?

Good Job!

Thank you Jack for your correction.

I would like to say :

When Lisa went to Mr. Thorwald's appartment, she discovered the alliance of Mr.Thorwald's wife ( They are married ). In fact, Mr Thorwald said that his wife was in vacation, but if she was in vacation she wouldn't have removed her alliance.

Jack, I hope that you understand me, if not I will rewrite it in French.

Bye.

Hi Laura! I got your comment earlier today and I was responding, but the substitute for my teacher didn't want me on the computer so I didn't get a chance to finish....and it was in French class! How unfair....

Anyways, I'm still a little confused on what you mean by alliance? Alliance means a formal agreement or treaty to cooperate for specific purposes. I don't think alliance is the right word to use.

I think I understand part of it:
"When Lisa went to Mr. Thorwald's apartment, she discovered the _____ of Mrs. Thorwald. Mr. Thorwald said that his wife was on vacation, but if she was on vacation, she would not have removed her ______."

My friend, Maddy (Nora's penpal), thinks that you're trying to say a wedding ring, but I'm not sure.

Could you tell me what you mean by alliance and/or write the sentence in French?

Thanks.....we'll figure it out!

Au revoir!

Jack

Hi Jack.

In fact, I would like to say about the Ring in the Marriage. In French we say : " Alliance " for the Ring. So I made a mistake.

Je voulais parler de l'Alliance de mariage que Mrs.Thorwald avait enlevée. Seulement je n'ai pas bien traduit le mot, et j'en suis vraiment désolée.

I think that you understand me now. ;)

Thank you, And bye.

Laura.
